Wood-Shop Kits
Hand made furniture, made easy!
|
 |
We are pleased to introduce our new range of unique step-by-step Wood-Shop Hand Made Furniture Kits - all based on the authentic furniture making style of the North East of Scotland and using traditional fine woodworking techniques and hand tools.
Our intention is that the series of Wood-Shop Kits should not only be worthwhile woodworking projects but should also combine to form a complete course in handmade furniture, clearly focused on traditional woodcraft and using quality materials and hand tools throughout.
We're not offering featureless flat-pack furniture! We're offering you to chance to discover the skills and techniques needed to produce your own quality hand made furniture!

A completed Breadbox
|
|
Our first kits feature simpler traditional items like the Creepie Stool, a Corner Unit or a Breadbox with integral chopping board. With each month we introduce a new piece of traditional Scottish furniture ; most from our own designs or adapted from fine woodworking furniture styles. Each new woodwork kit will introduce you to different traditional woodcraft skills.
As you progress through our course each kit encourages you to learn and to polish your new skills, while producing beautiful and useful pieces of handmade furniture! The course is carefully structured and offers increasingly challenging projects so you can quickly become proficient enough to create more complex pieces like our Chammer Chair!
Choose a complete Wood-Shop Furniture Kit and you'll receive a Project Folder containing trouble free woodworking plans with step-by-step instructions and fully dimensioned drawings, together with a cutting list and advice on wood selection. The kit also contains the appropriate skill sheets detailing the techniques involved - and all the pre-cut hardwood or softwood needed to complete the project!
Alternatively you can choose the individual kit elements that suit your needs or experience. For example, the complete Skill Sheets Set which teaches 20 different skills including:
Dovetailing
Wood Selection
The Hand Plane
Marking Out & Other Conventions
Mouldings & many more!
Together these Skill Sheets cover the woodcraft skills required for all of our hand made furniture kits.

Throughout our course of Wood-Shop Kits we encourage the use of traditional woodworking hand tools - so it's only natural that we should offer these too!
We supply a wide range of highest quality woodcrafting tools including chisels, planes, workbenches and all the brushes, oils and lacquers to give your projects the most professional looking finish. You can even choose a complete tool kit containing everything you'll need to ensure your future furniture making projects are successful.
